Saint-Etienne airport, at the heart of the large airport hub of Saint-Etienne / Lyon

History

In 2007 :
Aéroport de Saint-Etienne concluded a partnership agreement with Aéroport Lyon-Saint Exupéry. This association made it possible to create a large Saint-Etienne/Lyon airport hub, composed of three airports: Lyon-Saint Exupéry, an international airport; Lyon-Bron, a business airport; and Saint-Etienne, a charter and low-cost airport.
This airport hub creates territorial cohesion and provides a dynamic and complete “airport system”.
Rather than building a third runway at Aéroport de Saint Exupéry, this repositioning allows Aéroport de Saint-Etienne to have charter holiday and leisure flights, with destinations in France and Europe, offered by travel agencies and tour operators.
The Saint-Etienne airport possesses several advantages over Saint Exupéry for these types of flights: proximity for Loire Department residents, quick and easy access, free parking and immediate boarding.
Future low cost flights are currently being planned. Low cost carriers should soon be offering inexpensive regular flights departing from Aéroport de Saint-Etienne.

In 2009:
The airport of Lyon not having wished to renouveller the agreement, every airport took back its independence. Nevertheless, the reflexions of link of the towns of Lyon (Grand Lyon), Saint-Etienne (Saint-Etienne Metropole) and the North Isère in 2010 show the relevance of the approach made in 2007 at the level of airports. File to be followed in 2010/2011.

Hours of operation
The airport is open Monday to Friday from 08:30 to 20:00 and Saturday from 14:00 to 18:00. Closed Sunday and public holidays.
